How the Art World is Dealing with COVID-19?

Situations have been very tough for every single person existing during this phase. While every individual is dealing it in their own different ways, the artists and the art world have a creative way of dealing with this pandemic of coronavirus lockdown.

1.   Sand Art by Sudarsan Pattnaik –

World known sand sculptor, Sudarsan Pattnaik was praised globally for his best wishes shown by his art, for the Covid-19 patients and his display of support for everyone suffering and going through this global pandemic.

For those who don’t know, Sudarsan Pattnaik is a Padma Shree Awardee. This sand art by him was made in Puri beach, Odisha and
was uploaded on the internet.

On every celebration and disaster, he never missed expressing his motivational messages through his art. One more art by him during corona lockdown and Amphan Cyclone.

2.  Murals by street artists – 

The street art has been trending lately, and this recent coronavirus lockdown had surged in them their art and creativity painting the walls, reminding people of their duties so that we together can fight this global epidemic. The murals are awe-inspiring, aren’t they?

To pay tribute to essential workers during COVID-19 a street artist David Perez made a wall painting of a cashier and can be seen taking the picture of his own art.

3.   Online art teaching through social media platforms by Indian Artist Vignesh Raj –

Since we all had got a lot of free time during the coronavirus lockdown, Vignesh Raj, an artist, found this as a great opportunity to teach children and youngsters some art. He would upload his art tutorials on Instagram for everyone to learn the various skills of his style of art. It was very thoughtful of him to do so. Click here to watch one of his art tutorials.

Also to keep the art spark alive in the young artists he conducted an online art competition with exciting prizes.

4.     Indian Artist’s Painting based on coronavirus pandemic -

While we have known great Indian artists and even most of the artists conveying their thoughts, stories, and heartfelt feelings through series of art, Sanjeev Shashwati and Santoshkumar R Patil have also made a series projecting the coronavirus pandemic and its effect and aftermath, which can be seen online at IndiGalleria’s website.

5.   Comic strips by artists – 

This comic strip is also another great piece of art to show how the world is dealing with the pandemic. This comic strip has been made by Sonny Liew, in consultation with an Associate Professor, Hsu Li Yang, who is the program leader of infectious diseases and is supported by the SPHERIC.

6.   Handmade facemasks by creative people - 
And when we were in the dearth of the facemasks, the people came up with their creativity to lend a helping hand to the people by not just donating money like common people for masks, but also putting in efforts and painting and making each mask.
This effort by those people is really commendable and should not go out of notice.

7.   Rangoli on roads again by street artists – 

And when you and I were sitting at home, with all the roads left isolated, there came the street artists to make some paintings on it so that when in case we step out of our home unguarded, we are reminded of how deadly this coronavirus disease is.

And so we have seen how awe-inspiring these artists are, and how the art world is dealing and have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic.

From making a step to help people, by teaching young artists to warn them by painting on walls and roads and also by creatively establishing a whole series of artworks, we applaud the initiatives taken by every single person of the art world and their response to this pandemic.
